Cancer has touched many of us in some way, so we decided to fight back by raising funds and walking in our local American Cancer Society Relay for life event. This year the relay will be held at Prince William Fairgrounds, Manassas, VA on May 11 from 10am to 10pm. Members of the ministry will be available after service to collect your tax-deductible donation or you can make your donation online.

All Hats on Board the Spirit of Washington for a Lunch cruise on Saturday, June 1. A chartered bus will depart FBC at 9am to board the Spirit at 10:45am. The Missions Ministry is heading back for another Mission Trip in Puerto Rico! Join us as we help out remodeling homes that were destroyed by the hurricane, meet with locals in the community and give back in service.

A wellness day has been planned for the women of First Baptist and ladies in local shelters and a domestic violence house. It will be a day when we address some of the health issues that effect all women. Dr. Marshanda Carter, a local psychologist, will present a talk on anxiety and depression. Blood pressure testing, collection of old medications, yoga and lots of health related material will be available.
Invite your family and friends and join the Health and Wellness and Women’s Ministries as we focus our attention on being healthy Christians. Don’t forget to bring personal care items to donate to baskets that will be given to women in need. A Healthy hot breakfast will be served! Mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend!

The Women’s Ministry and Youth Ministry present a family event “The Museum of the Bible” where the family can experience the Bible like never before on Saturday, March 9 from 9am-4pm. God, Help Me, I’m Trying to Forgive!! Learning to forgive is a challenge for all of us, especially when family, friends, loved ones, and everyday people say or do things that hurt us. Instead of revenging the hurt, Jesus tells us to forgive. Come out to the Sister to Sister Session, Friday, February 22 at 7pm in the Historic Sanctuary to discuss the biblical teachings on forgiveness and how we can apply them in our daily walk. The next children's church service will be on Sunday, February 17. We will continue watching "Selma, Lord, Selma" and enjoy a black history skit presented by the FBC drama ministry. The children were challenged to research three facts about George Washington Carver, Fannie Lou Hamer or Constance Motley Baker and share their research with the class on February 17. All children ages 5-12 are invited to attend children's church.
