First Baptist Church, Manassas, VA is seeking a Dynamic and Creative Minister of Music & Arts. Candidate must be a Christian and demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing a music and arts ministry that brings glory to God. Willing to encourage diverse musical expressions to match the diversity of the congregation from traditional to contemporary. Responsible for the overall accountability for the ministry.

Must be musically trained with proven record of leadership experience working with choirs, ensembles, praise teams, directing people, and conducting musical productions. FBC Ladies, it is time to prepare for our fall retreat. It will be held on November 8-10 at the Liberty Mountain Resort, Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania, about 10 miles south of historic Gettysburg, Pa. The retreat continues to be a time of rest, relaxation and study of God’s word. We encourage each of you to prepare yourself for this event. The cost is $350 which includes a two night stay with two people in each room and 6 meals. Monthly/weekly payments will be accepted. Transportation is provided. The bus will leave the church at 1pm on Thursday, and return on Saturday around 3pm. Plan to enjoy dynamic speakers, mini workshops, fellowship, fun and time to reflect upon the goodness of God.

This year the relay will be held at Stonewall Jackson High School, Manassas, VA on May 19th 10am-10pm. 60 transportation projects across Northern Virginia vying for regional funding

Regional transportation officials are seeking public comments on transportation spending that will likely redraw area maps and commuting routes over the next six years.

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has 60 proposed projects worth a combined $2.4 billion vying for limited funding in the inaugural 2018-2023 Six Year Program. The total cost of the approved projects will be shared by the authority and the partner locality.

Submitted projects include Metro station improvements in Arlington; road improvements on U.S. 1, the Dulles Toll Road and Route 28 in Fairfax County; road widening and extensions around busy routes in Loudoun County; intersection and interchange improvements in Fairfax and Leesburg; a parking garage in Vienna; bike and pedestrian enhancements in Alexandria and Falls Church; and more. A detailed project list, project description forms, maps and technical analyses are available at the authority website, thenovaauthority.org.

Women's Ministry At-Home Retreat

Women of FBC are invited to attend the at- home retreat, designed to provide the retreat experience at home! Ladies will be inspired by the message of two dynamic speakers: Rev. Dr. Marquita Carmichael from Richmond, Va. and Rev. Debra Watkins-Marshall from Baltimore, Md. They will lead us through a journey of the Beatitudes that focus on righteousness, answering questions such as, Who are the righteous and why when persecuted would they inherit heaven? There will be time to study God’s word, fellowship and give praise and honor to Him.

A continental breakfast and lunch will be served. The cost is $20 and will be collected after each Sunday service in April. Mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend. Don’t forget to invite a friend.

The FBC High School Graduate Recognition and Scholarship Application and a photo of graduate wearing cap and gown must be submitted to the church office mail slot (located in the room across from the church office) or online by Monday, May 7, 2018 to be included in the graduate recognition publication and bulletin board. All photos submitted will be returned.

Recognition of FBC High School and College graduates will be SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2018 during the 10:45 a.m. service. Please plan to meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10:30 a.m. wearing your graduation attire where we will line graduates up in alpha order to be escorted into the sanctuary.

11:30am—2pm. The church will cover the cost of two adults and the graduating high school senior. Additional family members are welcome to attend but need to pay for their food.
